Is your Silver Jewellery real silver?
Yes, all our designer jewellery collections use sterling silver, except for the Fashion Jewellery, Toe Rings & Anklets categories (including items in Special Offers). Note category descriptions will state sterling silver where applicable. Sterling silver is also sometimes referred to as 925 silver. Our exclusive Calypso range, uses 925 Sterling silver or higher.
How do I care for my Silver & Gemstone Jewellery?
You can keep your silver & gemstone jewellery sparkling and tarnish free by following a few simple steps:-
1) Never spray perfume, deodrants, hairsprays etc. near your jewellery
2) After use, polish with a soft cloth (a specialist silver cloth or glass cloth are ideal)
3) Rather than keeping pieces loose in your jewellery box, it is best to store your silver jewellery in little individual airtight plastic bags! Gently squeeze the air out and seal. Not very glamorous we know, but incredibly effective!
4) Avoid excessive exposure to direct sunlight and finally;
5) Treat your jewellery for what it is - precious! For example, ensure clasps are closed properly and be careful of accidental impact with hard surfaces etc.
Can you tell me about the quality of the gemstones & pearls used in your own Calypso range?
We source our gemstones & pearls from some of the best, most experienced buyers in the business
We take great care in selecting our gemstones and often prices are reflective of the grade and quality of the gemstones used in specific designs. All are natural gemstones. We never use manufactured gems. We sometimes use gems where the colour has been enhanced (a heat treatment process accepted in the jewellery trade). We tend to choose these gems where a stronger colour is needed for a particular design or where the naturally intense colour would prove prohibitively expensive for our customers.
All our pearls are freshwater cultured pearls. Particularly bright or colourful ones may have been professionally dyed (again – an accepted practice in the jewellery trade)
We choose pearls that have the most attractive shape and colour and most importantly their lustre (nacre).
Prices will reflect these qualities.
And what about the crystal and glass in Calypso?
Calypso uses only Swarovski crystal and genuine handblown glass, handcrafted by skilled artisans from all over the world, including Murano where stated, which we source directly.
Can you adjust your jewellery to suit my specific needs? For example if I need a larger sized bracelet than that stated on your website, or I wanted a longer silver chain for a necklace?
Yes, we can make alterations to suit the needs of our customers on most of our Calypso range. Please call us to discuss your requirements and/or special commissions. This service is also available for Calypso corsages.
How do I wear & take off the illusion band toe rings?
The bands on our toe rings are made of a special stretchable plastic that easily conform to your toe size & is comfortable.
To wear, firmly hold the decorated part between your thumb and index finger & with your other hand, gently stretch the band down and roll it on to your toe.
To take off, grasp the decorated part with your thumb and index finger and gently roll it off of your toe.
If the fit feels too snug, simply hold the decorated part (as described above) between your thumb and index finger & with your other hand, gently stretch the band a bit. It is important to hold the decorated piece in your other hand when stretching out the band!
